Maldives: The local experience

We went to: Thulusdhoo, Maldives

We stayed in: Thulusdhoo Surf Camp (they don't provide food but bringing your own groceries to cook is an option)

We ate at: Contagious Pizza (Make sure hat they are open when you go as it's a husband and wife that run this place and they need some down time too. This place will be the only one where you eat at the entire stay, their pizza and daily freshly baked cookies are the bomb.com)

Activities: Surfing (intermediate as the waves are quite big and there's a coral bed underneath you), swimming, SUP, snorkeling, scuba diving, exploring around the island, climbing palm trees and purely chilling

POINTERS:

- Traveling from Dubai the flights are usually cheap but unfortunately the resorts are in the pricier range so this was a nice way to do a budget holiday

- This is a very local and basic island so don't expect any fancy places

- The supermarkets here are very basic so if you want to cook your own meals do your groceries in Male

- There's guys roaming around and the guys at the camp can help you with getting a boat to some nice snorkeling spots

KC grazed a sea urchin getting pummeled in a wave and had lots of spikes in his foot, quick visit to the local doctor and soaking his foot in warm vinegar water was the first step. Weeks later he pulled out a few more spikes when they were ready to come out (yuck)

Cute little shipwreck on the other side of the island and a beautiful crystal blue sand beach (the camp side beach is a bit messy and has a bit of coral reef)

We took a boat to a few snorkeling spots, it's shallow enough to snorkel and not have to worry about paying for a full SCUBA dive
